From her humble beginnings at Warwick Farm to the Queen of the Australian turf – Winx’s journey has been a remarkable one.
She’s been compared to the current day greats such as Black Caviar and Makybe Diva to the ones of yesteryear including Kingston Town and Sunline – but it’s fair to say if Winx wins her fourth Cox Plate in succession later this October, she will go down as the greatest ever.
The documentary explores how and why Winx is such a champion mare. The team at Dickson Films speak to her nearest and dearest including Trainer Chris Waller, Jockey Hugh Bowman, owners, connections and the everyday Australian racing fans who pour through the turnstiles to see her in action by their tens of thousands.
But her status as a champion wasn’t always set in stone. This film explores the heart stopping moments when she defied the critics – and all reason – to again come out on top.
When she stormed home to win the 2017 Warwick Stakes despite missing the jump by 4 lengths, when she had to weave through traffic to salute in the 2018 Turnbull Stakes, and of course the gripping battle to the line with Humidor in her last Cox Plate triumph at Mooney Valley in 2017.
This documentary has it all, and the story isn’t over yet.
